Kei Truck History

General Information

All Kei vehicle manufacturers create van, truck and dump versions as well as several other variations depending on the manufacturer. These can include fuel, freezer and tent trucks. All with 660cc 3 or 4 cylinder engines in either 2wd or 4wd configurations. They typically have a length of ~329.5 cm. In Calgary you would qualify for the PARKsmall Discount as they are under 380cm's long.

The standard truck configurations have fold down box sides and the dump versions are either hydraulic or electrically operated.

Kei vehicles are also manufactured in other countries such as Italy and can come with larger gas and diesel engines. Unfortunately these countries don't have the same strict vehicle operation laws that Japan has. Importing Kei vehicles from countries other than Japan is pointless as the end result is normally poor or tampered trucks.
